About
Dorothy H. Price is a writer. She claimed that title at 11 when her big sister gifted her with a birthday journal. She still has it, along with a crate full of others she's written in over the years. From songs to poems to short stories, to novels to TV shows to plays, Dorothy has written ‘em all. Then, one day in 2008, she got an idea for a picture book. A year later, she was still writing picture books. She couldn’t stop. After joining SCBWI in 2010, it was clear she and kidlit were meant to be!
Her first picture book, NANA'S FAVORITE THINGS, was published by Eifrig Publishing in 2016. In 2019, two of her stories were published in Teaching Tolerance's Teaching Hard History series, a project of the Southern Poverty Law Center. That same year, Dorothy was one of three picture book authors out of more than 100 applicants selected for the We Need Diverse Books Mentorship Program. The second set of books in her JALEN'S BIG CITY LIFE series released on August 1, 2023, by Capstone Publishing. Dorothy is also a 2023-2024 Baldwin For The Arts Fellow. During her residency, she will finish final revisions on her middle grade novel.
