About

Dorothy H. Price is a writer. She claimed that title at 11 when her big sister gifted her with a birthday journal. She still has it, along with a crate full of other journals she's written in over the years. In 2008, she had an idea for a picture book. A year later, she was still writing picture books, and in 2010 she joined SCBWI.

Her first picture book, NANA'S FAVORITE THINGS, was published by Eifrig Publishing in 2016. In 2019, two of

her children’s stories were published in Learning for Justice, a project of the Southern Poverty Law Center. That

same year, Dorothy was one of three picture book writers selected for the We Need Diverse Books Mentorship

Program. Her first four chapter books in the JALEN'S BIG CITY LIFE series published in 2022 by Capstone Publishing. Four additional chapter books in the same series were published in August 2023. Dorothy is also a Baldwin for the Arts 2023-2024 Fellow.

Writer Mission Statement
